CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Cambria County commissioners approved applications for several grants Thursday morning, including one they say will help with some much-needed repairs for the roof of the Cambria County Courthouse. During their meeting Thursday morning, commissioners approved applications for three grants. The first is $579,420 for the county's library system and its community hub project. The second: $250,000 for Nulton Diagnostics and its medical autonomous care research and development program.
PILESGROVE, N.J. -- Authorities say a horse tossed a rodeo performer off its back in front of a crowd of thousands and then trampled him to death. Nineteen-year-old bareback rider Coy Lutz was trampled Saturday night at the Cowtown Rodeo in Pilesgrove, about 35 miles southwest of Philadelphia. The Howard, Pennsylvania, resident died shortly afterward at a hospital. Cowtown Rodeo owner Grant Harris told NJ.com this was the first time a rodeo participant had died from injuries suffered in the event.
TYRONE, Pa. (WJAC) — Following their preliminary investigation, Peoples Natural Gas says they believe they know what caused a deadly house explosion in Tyrone last month. Peoples Spokesperson Barry Kukovich says the company has been led to believe that the gas leak was caused by a pipeline being struck by a horizontal drill operated by a contractor working on a water project. “Our preliminary investigation leads us to believe that the gas leak on July 26th in Tyrone, Pennsylvania was due to our pipeline being struck by a horizontal drill operated by a contractor working on a water project,” Kukovich said in a statement emailed to 6 News.

Baltimore (WBFF) — A frustrated gas station owner is sharing his concern about a familiar and lingering issue for Baltimore -- open-air drug markets. When he spoke to Fox45 News Tuesday, he singled out three people allegedly involved but says the city is doing little about it. Muhammad Sajid calls the Shell gas station on Edmondson Avenue near Swann Avenue a hotbed for open-air drug dealing. BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A Bedford County man arrested and accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl is facing more charges after sexually assaulting the girl again while out on bail, troopers say. According to state police, 24-year-old Daniel Taylor, of Broad Top, is facing 432 more counts related to sexual assault and corruption of minors. Troopers say Taylor was first charged in February of 2020. Taylor was arrested after investigators say they interviewed him and the girl and learned that he had assaulted her at multiple locations in Coaldale Borough and in Broad Top Township between Dec.

PITTSBURGH -- A Pennsylvania woman who drowned her two youngest sons in their bathtub because she felt that would enable her to be a better mother to their older brother has been sentenced to 30 to 80 years in prison. An Allegheny County judge in March found 44-year-old Laurel Schlemmer guilty but mentally ill of third-degree murder after hearing three days of testimony and arguments. The judge called the sentence imposed Wednesday a de-facto life term given the defendant's age.
