CENTRE COUNTY, Pa — Three days into the Centre County Grange Fair, people from all over are coming to enjoy the fun. The fairgrounds provide over 1,000 permanent tenting sites that have been reserved by families for many generations. It remains the only tenting fair left in the nation.
"This campsite was given to my grandmother when they discontinued having large tents. Her tent used to be oversized because she had 16 children,"
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WJAC) — Pennsylvania First Lady Frances Wolf stopped by Penn State Thursday to tour their Lion's Pantry and to talk with students and staff.
She led a roundtable discussion after the tour on the link between college student hunger and the minimum wage.
Students and university leaders were able to talk with Wolf about ensuring that students have their basic food needs met.
The Wolf administration says low income is the most common risk factor for student hunger, so this visit's purpose was to hear what students have to say on how they can advocate for better wages to make students thrive.
STATE COLLEGE - The Penn State football team has departed for Southern California, where it will play in the Rose Bowl, but businesses back in State College are still benefiting from merchandise sales leading up to the big game.
One local store, McLanahan’s Penn State Room, said the team’s recent success has increased sales both in the store and online.
“People area ordering – it’s tenfold of what we’ve had in the past,” said Jennifer Schoch, manager of McLanahan’s.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, Bishop Carroll High School organized a Veterans Day Ceremony.
The ceremony took place for the first time in conjunction with an Alumni Basketball Game.
Organizers explain that the game included both a men’s and women’s division and really offered an opportunity for the public to see the school’s new gym.
The event also featured a basket raffle from which a portion of the proceeds will go to the It’s All About The Warrior Foundation.

MEYERSDALE, Pa. (WJAC) — Saturday was the fifth annual Trucks for Smiles event, hosted at the fairgrounds in Meyersdale.
There were semitrailers, pickup trucks and even ambulances lining up at the Somerset Fairgrounds to participate in the Trucks for Smiles convoy.
The event started as a one-time event, but has now grown due to its success.
There were raffles, a live auction, food and lots of activities for kids, but what's most exciting about the day is the fact that 100 percent of the proceeds is donated to Make-A-Wish so kids have an opportunity to get their wish granted.
