CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Police say a Cambria County Wendy’s employee is facing gun- and drug-related charges after an investigation at one of the local restaurants. According to the Richland Township Police Department, 29-year-old Tyler Peifer, of Holsopple, is facing charges related to receiving stolen property, firearm not to be carried without a license and possessing a small amount of marijuana. Officers say they responded to the Wendy’s on Scalp Ave.
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — A rare great white shark sighting about 30 miles off the Alabama coast was caught on camera. Researchers at the University of South Alabama (USA) captured video of a juvenile female great white shark hanging out south of the Sand Island lighthouse. According to a news release from USA, this is the first known sighting in that area recorded by scientists, and this juvenile shark has never been recorded before.
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WJAC/AP) — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins, 24, has died after being struck by a dump truck on an interstate in Broward County Fla., Florida Highway Patrol confirmed. The news was first reported by his agent to ESPN Saturday morning. Miami-area media outlets report the crash happened just before 7:00 a.m. Saturday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 595. Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Lt. Indiana Miranda told the Associated Press he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The starting point for this year's "World Naked Bike Ride" event in Oregon has been announced. The ride will start at Peninsula Park in North Portland on July 30 at 9 p.m. EDT. CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — UPDATE | In a statement given by the Federal Aviation Administration, it was announced that a twin-engine Piper PA-30 crashed in a wooded area of Cambria County just before 4 p.m. According to the Cambria County Coroners Office, there were two people on board at the time and both were pronounced dead at the scene. The statement says that the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

LORETTO -- Saint Francis Softball Head Coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift has accepted an offer to become the Head Coach of the NC State Softball program. Patrick-Swift led the Red Flash to new heights during her seven years as the leader of the program, including back-to-back NEC Titles. Patrick-Swift ended her tenure in Loretto with a 226-152 record over seven seasons, holding SFU program records for wins and win percentage (.597). She led the Red Flash to its first ever NEC Title, NCAA Tournament appearance and NCAA Tournament win in 2017, while setting an SFU and NEC season record with 49 wins and becoming the first NEC team to go undefeated in conference play.
SPARTANSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Search warrant filings for the Pennsylvania home where a pregnant Amish woman was killed this week said she appeared to have suffered cutting wounds to her neck and head. Two search warrants were issued at the request of state police regarding Monday's slaying of Rebekah A. Byler, 23. Her body was found in the living room of her home a few miles from Spartansburg. The slaying shocked the rural community in northwestern Pennsylvania, where people say the Amish, who restrict the use of technology and are known for their traditional clothing, get on well with non-Amish in the area.
