Officers were provided with the bracelets to put in their police cruisers and hand out to children, teens and adults within the city. “It takes that barrier down of what a police car does, along with the badge,” said Johnstown police Sgt. Sherry Leighty of Altoona had been missing since 1999 before her father-in-law admitted to her murder in 2013. For the last five years, Leighty’s sister has been fighting to make sure he doesn’t get out on parole. Shelly Nagle said her sister’s murderer was denied parole for the fourth time last month and that she will continue to work to keep him in prison. She presented a petition to the parole board with more than 30,000 signatures of people against his release.
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Johnstown police are searching for two men after a taxi driver said he was robbed at gunpoint. According to police, the robbery happened on Corrine Avenue just before 1 a.m. Monday after two men called for a cab. According to a police report, the driver said when he arrived at the destination, one of the men got into the front seat and pulled a gun on him.
UPDATE | CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — State police say the driver of a dump truck that collided with a train in Centre County Thursday morning suffered minor injuries in the crash. Investigators say the collision occurred just before 10 a.m. Thursday as the truck was attempting to cross the railroad tracks, near a private lane, along the 7000 block of South Eagle Valley Road in Worth Township. Troopers say a northbound train struck the truck, knocking the empty dump bed off and pushing it approximately 150 yards down the tracks.

Lees say the fire victim was a man in his 20s. Investigators say the blaze also injured five other residents of the home. Authorities say more details are expected to be released on Thursday. NORTHERN CAMBRIA, Pa (WJAC) — There will be a nonpartisan voter registration event at Contres Greer Social Hall in Northern Cambria Saturday. Organizers say volunteers will be available to assist people in registering to vote and to help those wanting to change parties. They say they will also help with applications for absentee and main-in ballots. The event runs from noon to 4 p.m. Monday, October 19 is the last day to register to vote for the upcoming election.
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — The Patton Park and Pool has been around for decades in Cambria County. The pool closed down during the summer of 2017 due to a lack of funding, staffing, and community support. Raymond Keith and some other Patton residents wanted to change that. So, they formed a write-in campaign for the November 2019 election with one platform: to save the Patton Pool. "Our goal was to get on council, get the park commission restated, and get this park back to the way it looks today,"
